2009-12-14 11:57 | TinaX | I took what you said from the other topic not to go too far offtopic there, cause it's still kinda strange.
**> Sometimes it happens to me too that some links appear on my profile i never ever added This means that same IP addresses are shared between several exchange users. And another user who previously had the same IP address added its link. You can either choose to remove their link and add yours or you can change IP address to new one. Note that links can be deleted 20 hours after they were added.** It is no biggie for me cause i know how to handle this but i think this shouldn't be possible. Once i added Links to my personal profile they should also be protected, cause only i have access to it with my PW. If it's so easy to manipulate others profiles only by using the same IP adress someone used b4, i don't think it's OK You know it's so easy to find out other ppls IPs and as soon as person X goes offline Y can switch to the IP by using several easy free proggis for IP changing you can find allover the net. Well you don't even have to be a hacker to do this If someone uses IP Change Automation it could become a problem cause you don't recognize that your links have been changed untill you take a look at the site again after supermode has done a run. I know it's no high security site here but it's kinda annoying if you find out this happened to your scroll. All i wanted to say is that my scroll and profile is PW protected ... well therefore we have a PW and it shouldn't be possible to change settings, links etc... there so easy. It logs me out every time i change IP so i see what happens to my profile and links and if needed i can edit them, but many users are always logged in and when they recognize something has changed it's a lil late. |
2009-12-14 12:53 | utopia.lv | I have answered this question several times.
http://www.utopia.lv/exchange/?do=forum&w=view&pid=16188&mid=17521 http://www.utopia.lv/exchange/?do=forum&w=view&pid=16184&mid=17507 http://www.utopia.lv/exchange/?do=forum&w=view&pid=16183&mid=17506 In short: Profile belongs to you, it is password protected and can not be changed. IP address does not belong to you, it is not protected and therefore links associated with it can be changed. P.S. It is impossible to change IP address to some specific one, if you do not have access to specific IP address range. |
2017-07-06 03:17 | DemonicJ | With the way this system works, the only thing someone cant change on your account is your password! If they happen to use an IP you have used, they can access your account, change your links, your other settings, use the chatbox under your name & even send mail from your account!!
I have tested & verified with an admin here. The only way to stop inadvertently changing peoples details is, if you login & see the links in 'your' account are not correct, log out then log back in. that should clear it up. |
