2009-03-11 22:13 | Dan | Thanks for your concern.
Unicreatures has been disabled for the last few days, and no traffic has been going to their site. Thanks Dan |
2009-03-23 00:51 | qazxswe | bring unicreatures back |
2009-03-23 08:57 | utopia.lv | Please ask this question to UniCreatures admin Acid in UniCreatures forum.
Acid requested the game removal from Utopia Exchange, because Acid thinks the exchange is too automated and requires too little user input. |
2009-06-22 19:58 | Acid | Hey guys, I see that it was brought back to donators only.
I understand the reasons for doing it, but I would appreciate this being removed as well. Thanks, Acid |
2009-06-22 20:53 | des43t | Is there a particular reason for your request? I can't believe that it's still a traffic issue. All of the changes you've made lately exponentially increase hits from within the site itself. Are you asking all click exchanges to remove your links or just this one? |
2009-06-24 06:47 | Acid | There are other bot-exchanges using us?
What I'm requesting is that any non-human click site to remove us. If it's humans doing the clicking, I'm okay with it. This site has ip's in the millions or something like that and make it so that no human interaction is necessary, even taking steps to route around the bot-security we intentionally designed to avoid this sort of thing. If there are any other sites that are bypassing our security systems, then I would like to be referred to those ones as well. We have updated our TOS to point out that we do not accept any boting on our system. If you would be so kind, please remove unicreatures from your site within the next 24 hours. Thanks. |
2009-06-24 13:46 | des43t | I understand what request is, but I was asking what your reasoning is behind your request. At one point in the past, you had said that it was costing you a lot of money to get visits from here. That can't be the reason any more, since the number of hits from this site isn't a drop in the bucket compared to the number of hits you get now that you have implemented new features that allow practically constant clicking. There are only a handful of unicreatures links registered here, and there's a cap on the number of visits per day that they can receive. In other words, they shut off after they reached the cap, and no more visits go to the unicreatures site. The traffic is minimal.
My personal opinion (and keep in mind that I'm not the administrator of this site, so my opinion isn't the one that counts) is that I wouldn't want to put you out of business or cause a slowdown because of the extra traffic to your site. But if it's just that you're opposed to "bot" visits out of principle, then I'd have to say that it's the nature of the beast. It's a game, and it's natural for people to want to find a way to "win" at that game, and that you can't always control how people are going to use it. You provide a service to people -- a game that they enjoy. We provide a service to people -- a way to heighten the enjoyment of the games by reducing the amount of time it takes to do well at the games. This link exchange currently supports over 25 games, and requests to add new games come in regularly. You always have the ability, of course, to terminate the users at your site who use automated link exchanges if you wish. I wouldn't think that would be wise though, as I assume that the people who pay money to use this link exchange are probably also the ones who pay money for your extra features at your site, harming your financial bottom line. But that's your choice. And the decision of whether to continue supporting unicreatures at this exchange is utopia's, so I will let him answer for himself. |
2009-06-25 00:37 | Acid | And I thank you for you opinions. But as I had stated long ago, a primary concern was that I do not wish for bots to be playing my game - only humans. I understand that people are always going to be inclined to find ways around it, but that's like saying people are inclined to find ways to cheat on their spouses, so let's make sure they've got a good alibi planned out. There are ways that my game is meant to be played, and this system is not one of them.
To everyone in charge of this forum (specifically utopia, whom I have sent a PM to), please adhere to this request. I do not wish to come back to argue about the practicalities of the system with you. I am simply not choosing to have my site on yours, as it conflicts with my TOS, and I feel that an appropriate thing to do as administrators is to remove my site without any complications. You are entitled to your opinions as I am entitled to mine. Please remove my site from yours within the next 24 hours. (( posted Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 @ 8:40 PM )) |
2009-06-25 07:33 | utopia.lv | Unicreatures disabled.
It is possible the game will be enabled again later if I decide to implement manual clicking engine specially for Unicreatures. |
2010-09-10 19:24 | MishaBaby | I would just like to say that I really resent that comment comparing using a link exchange service to cheating on your spouse. That was way out of bounds, and your logic is utterly ridiculous. I cannot believe you put something so preposterous and offensive on a public site. I have lost all respect for you. Congrats on getting your site removed, though. =\ |
