| 2009-05-01 22:17 | ygrekem | on may the 1st at 23:10 after a 'tops update' my visits count was 31101 and my rank 13th for the day. I was very surprised to discover I was back at 28964 and rank 14th at 23:50. I noticed the same problem the day before (on april the 30th). |

I am talking about the visits i do within the same day and the number which is going back is the amount of visits for the DAY and this happens before midnight (between 23:10 and 23:50) i verified my computer's clock and the clock of your server in order to be sure this was no caused by the midnight's reset. It is looking like as if my last visits done just before 23:10 were added and then substracted. |

Once again to day (sunday may the 3rd) my visits count of the day was 14855 at 22:20. When I came back at 23:30 this count was back to 12857. The missing 2028 visits are exactly the number of visit I did during the last visit cycle before 22:20. the times i report are GMT+1 times. So as you can see midnight's reset is not involved in this problem. If you need more informations to help you, please ask. |
| 2009-05-04 20:23 | utopia.lv | Only possibility I can think of is you are sharing IP addresses with somebody else who is using the exchange.
If somebody gets hold of your previous IP address and changes the name in Options, the credit will go to the new IP address holder. Sorry, there is no way around this. |
| 2009-05-04 20:58 | Zelkova | You could change your IP or use a proxy that will do it for you if you too lazy for that. The proxy can easily be found on Google and a tutorial would most likely be found on Google too if you wish to change it by hand.
Try that and see if someone been stealing from you. =P |

Most of the time, i change my IP once the visit cycle is finished (restarting my modem-router) in order to be ready to start a new cycle when i come back to my computer. So the chance somebody would rob my IP is very narrow, anyway i cannot exclude it. I have the idea this could come from the fact that i logout sometime when i leave. Example: yesterday i didn't logout at all for whole the day and my visits count stayed correct... I will try to logout in the evening, see what happen and let you know. |

When logged out, name and profile association with the IP address is removed. That means it will show less visits on the multi-ip top. Though points given to your added links will not be lost and your links will get higher in the visit queue. Utopia |

After having read this topic I did some checking of my visit's counter: I also loose the amount corresponding to my last visit cycle (about 2100 visits done) each day. So, when I logged in to day, the total of visits done the six days before was 27685 and 0 for to-day when it should have been 40383, 12698 were missing. :-( As well as Ygrekem I wait for the update every 15 minutes is done to be sure the visit counter is validated and registered in your database, then I logout and power down the computer and modem-router. |
| 2009-06-08 21:02 | utopia.lv | Poljac, if you want to be in single-IP or multi-IP tops, do not log out. Logging out clears user association with IP address.
Also, if your IP changes, you can not get high in single-IP top. But it is possible to get very high in multi-ip top if you can find how to change IP address. |

I didn't know that you were managing two different counters, one for the visits given and another one for the rank in the top list. Now I understand clearly that it cannot be the same, as one is associated with each link to give back visits, and the other one associated to the name in the profile to give it a rank in the top list.
