All minicities being skipped
2010-03-24 12:30
treguldFor the past two days I've tried to visit sites only to find that all minicity sites are being skipped. Is there a problem with those sites at the moment? Thank you. ^_^
2010-03-27 10:36
arm-surorgeNothing work anymmore for me as well for 2 days at least.
2010-03-29 03:56
treguldSame for me still. It is going on nearly a week now. I've tried everything on my end. I am totally puzzled. >.<;
2010-03-29 21:00
BUGBYTEmine works...lol
2010-03-30 06:25
Bruglioneyep mine works to, havn't seen any problems

have you cleared your cache?
2010-03-31 22:17
JackulwulfI'm having the same problem. I've cleared my cache twice and cleared my cookies, logged out and logged back in again. Its frustrating really and I wish we could hear something from the admin about it. I can't level up my squibies because of this problem. I'd say mmc is down cause even when I click on the links manually, the pages won't load but it seems not everyone is having this problem. It is rather puzzling.
2010-04-01 01:31
TinaXNo Problems here either.
Do you have installed any addons like NoScript to block some web content ???
This could couse the problem and i remember some similar Probs. when i was using it a while ago so i uninstalled it again.
2010-04-01 03:51
JackulwulfAll I have is flashblock which I disabled and tried it and its the same. I haven't changed anything since before this all started either.

I also tried loading myminicity with internet explorer and it doesn't work there either. *shrugs*
2010-04-01 21:16
TinaXWell if it was a Firefox only Problem i would suggest to create a new Profile for Utopia only.
No addons besides Supermode.

If it's the same with IE it sounds more like a Firewall Prob. to me or probably your Anti Virus Software blocks the sites.

No other ideas from me ^^
2010-04-02 01:19
JackulwulfWell the firewall and antivirus never caused problems before, but I disabled both and its still the same, all MMC are being skipped. I even cleared my cache once again after disabling both. The only thing that seems logical to me is the problem is with MMC itself and perhaps its only in certain area's or something. Everyone who's having problems, where are you from? I'm from Alberta, Canada. I remember once before on a different site that the site went down and then only some people could access it and some people couldn't. *shrugs* That's the only thing I can think of that would be causing this. Perhaps those who can access MMC could contact them and see if perhaps the problem is there.
2010-04-02 17:41
arm-surorgeit now works again after a few days.
I don't know why.
2010-04-02 20:20
JackulwulfIt ain't working for me, its still the same. x.x;; Isn't there a way for the admin to do something to make it so they aren't skipped in the exchange? So we can actually use the site? I mean they aren't going to get views from us who its not working for anyhow until the problem is figured out.
2010-04-08 01:35
JackulwulfSeriously, where are the admin?...its really frustrating not hearing anything from them about this problem. I realize it probably isn't a fault of this site but still. Unless this is fixed in some way I can't even use this site anymore because I can't even click 10% of the links to enable even one link. I'm almost positive it has something to do with Motion Twin games because its only Myminicity, Miniville, and Mybrute that don't work on my computer, it happens on no other sites. And it isn't my ISP because I tried the sites on a free proxy website and they still don't work. And it isn't firefox because it does it in every browser I try. But yea, if this isn't remedied in some way then you'll be losing a member in me, not because I want to leave but because I can't use the site anymore.
2010-04-08 12:02
BruglioneAlright then sorry for this really late response but I don't go here a lot anymore and Utopia himself is really busy, it's quite difficult to explain this problem since I can't really see what exactly happens when you try to make visits. I did notice however that you're using and old version of FireFox (Firefox/3.5.7) instead of 3.6. But since you say you've tried it in Internet Explorer that can't really be the problem.

When you manually go to Myminicity, does your browser give any error?

Anyways, maybe you should try:
1. Uninstall Firefox completely
2. Re-install it with the latest update
3. Re-install the latest version of Supermode
4. Create a new user profile just to be 100% sure
5. Set correct settings in options
6. Try to run the exchange again

You could probably skip the first step if you don't want to do this, but then atleast make sure you've updated to the latest version of FireFox. If this doesn't solve your problem then it must be some problem with your computer wich will be really hard to solve for me. I could suggest running a virusscan then.

Also I noticed (atleast I think so) that you are a donator so you probably don't want to create a new profile, but please try this anyways. You can always go back to your old profile after, or I could ask Utopia if he can arrange something to transfer the donator status.

And if all of this fails, then maybe you have been banned by Motion Twin for some reason? Or accidently got on their blacklist for some reason? Ofcourse I don't really know this and this is just a wild guess.
2010-04-08 14:51
treguldBruglione, I do have the most up dated fire fox. I also tried your suggestion to use a different profile but it still skipped the mini city sites. I have noticed though it will not skip 3d mini cities nor other click-able sites. I've run and rerun scans for viruses or malware just to be sure. But I am totally confused as to why this is happening. I am glad some are not being effected. I am sure we shall get to the bottom of this. Thanks for the suggestion though. It was worth a try.
2010-04-08 18:20
JackulwulfThanks for replying. The problem isn't connected to firefox since it still happens in other browsers that I try. I've also tried uninstalling supermode and installing it again. I haven't tried running a virus scan yet so I'll do that right away. I don't think that I got banned from Motion Twin because I'm not an actual user of any of their games, I've just checked out the site to see what works and doesn't work on my computer. When I do try and open a MMC site it doesn't say any error or anything, the site just doesn't load. It's just a blank screen, as if the site was down or something but since its working for others that's not the case. Anyhow, I'll run the virus scan and see what happens. Thanks anyhow.
2010-04-08 20:39
JackulwulfIn case it helps, here's a image of what happens when I try to open an MMC page. Same thing happens when I try to open Miniville as well as Antiville and Mybrute. http://i44.tinypic.com/20k4ns0.jpg

Also, running the antivirus and spyware scanners doesn't seem to have helped at all. While I did find various trojans and got rid of them, I'm still having problems.
2010-04-09 07:05
BruglioneHey Jackulwulf and Treguld, too bad that these things didn't help you out either.

The screenshot is kinda useless since it doesn't show any error message (this is pretty weird).

I did notice however that your using a diffrent operating system? Is it some kind of Linux OS or are you using a mac?
What OS are other people using that have this problem?
2010-04-09 08:12
BruglioneOk this is quite funny, i just ran the exchange and got this:

Status: Ok.
Visited 1816 links. (Skips: 507)
Completed: 100% | Done in 1.73 minutes.

around 40% of the MMC links got skipped (mostly .fr ones)

EDIT:
After running it again everything was fine again :S

Status: Ok.
Visited 506 links.
Completed: 100% | Done in 34.49 seconds.
2010-04-09 20:25
JackulwulfOh no, sorry to confuse you there. I am using windows xp, I just have the windowblinds program downloaded which lets me customize how windows looks. That's why it looks different.
2010-04-12 06:32
BruglioneSo i assume that means your still having problems?

I'll pm Utopia about this thread, maybe he has some suggestions left.
2010-04-12 14:54
utopia.lvThis has absolutely nothing to do with Utopia exchange.
Here are some ideas that might help:

* Your DNS might be wrong.

To diagnose, open command prompt and execute the following line:
ping test.myminicity.com

It should return the following result:
Pinging test.myminicity.com [91.209.175.101] with 32 bytes of data:

If IP address returned is not 91.209.175.101, change your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 (it is Google DNS) and reboot (for simplicity). If it does not help and it still returns wrong IP address, there might be some software on your computer or some router in your network that intercepts DNS requests.

* Your IP address might be banned at Motion Twin servers.

If you have laptop, take it to your friend's home and do a test using friend's Internet connection.

If you do not have laptop, find proxy server that will change your IP address, isn't popular (popular proxy server might be banned at Motion Twin) and will make you totally anonymous. Delete cookies, set up proxy connection and try running the exchange. If it runs ok through proxy server, your IP address is banned. If it still does not run, probably proxy server is not totally 100% anonymous. It is best to test with several.

Please let me know your results.

Warm regards,
Utopia
2010-04-12 21:43
JackulwulfThanks for the suggestions but none of it helps. The right IP address comes back when I do the ping test you suggested, and even when I try different proxies its still the same. I'm at a loss as to what to do if its some sort of software that is causing this problem. I have no idea what it could be and formatting my computer to get rid of the problem is out of the question as I don't think I even have a windows disc.
2010-04-13 06:24
utopia.lvIs it possible that your friend with a laptop comes to you and tries to do visits from your internet connection? This way we will see if problem is located locally on your computer or further away.

P.S. When testing connection through proxy server try opening http://test.myminicity.com to see if it still gives you a blank page.

utopia.lvJackulwulf wrote: formatting my computer to get rid of the problem is out of the question as I don't think I even have a windows disc.

No need to reinstall. Download Ubuntu CD image and burn it to CD or DVD disc. Boot from it and choose LiveCD at startup. When Ubuntu boots, start Firefox and try opening any myminicity.com city link. If it gives a blank page, the problem is not your computer and is located further away.

Download Ubuntu CD image here: http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download
More help about LiveCD here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD
2010-04-14 02:32
Jackulwulfk, I'll give ubuntu a try and see what happens. I'll let you know the results. Thanks.
2010-04-14 22:03
jackulwulfOk, so I tried using Ubuntu and even then, its still the same thing. Myminicity doesn't load and it skips in the exchange. So what now?..
2010-04-15 06:34
BruglioneGuess you should try to contact MotionTwin then, not sure how to

EDIT:

I found this adress: http://support.motion-twin.com/intro

But the problem is, they don't seem to have any support for Myminicity. You cant select it in the dropdown list, and you can't have a account at myminicity anyways

Or you could try this email: contact@motion-twin.com
Also found on that link.
2010-04-17 02:37
treguldOkay, I did try all the suggestions but to no avail. I know I do not have a problem being blocked by the site that runs Mini City as I can visit them on the alternate link exchange site I am using till I can get this one working. ( I really prefer this site )

Thank you for all the suggestions. I have to admit I was at a loss having tried all I could come up with. I know eventually we will get this solved. ^_^
2010-04-17 23:24
utopia.lvTreguld, do you also get blank screen when you open any myminicity.com link manually? If so, then most probably the other exchange you use does not verify if links are actually visited and they are not.
2010-04-18 10:47
treguldYes, I did notice that they are blank when opened manually. So you must be right there. I wonder why though I would be blocked as I do not have a minicity account at all. My IP never changes as I have a satellite connection. So if someone else in my area got their IP blocked I wonder if it would include mine as well?

I'm telling you though I really super miss using this exchange. It is the absolute best around. I hope I can get this running some way soon. Thanks again and take care. ^_^
2010-04-18 22:48
JackulwulfI also have a satellite connection as well I am not an actual Minicity user so the chances of having my IP blocked is slim. However a while back I did have problems with GPX where my IP address was flagged and my account banned because somehow someone was using my IP address to create multiple accounts. Satellite Ip addresses do sometimes change as I've had mine change once and ISP's recycle old IP addresses that were used by others in the past. I wonder if perhaps maybe there is a way that two people can be assigned the same IP address with different computers? That would explain the problem I had with GPX and if so then perhaps might explain our problem with Minicity at the moment. If someone using the same IP address who is a member there got banned, it would cause mine to be banned as well. Just an opinion on my end, dunno if its possible. Treguld, would you mind pming me your ISP and IP address? Maybe we have something in common since we both have a Satellite connection? If you don't feel comfortable doing so then that's fine, I just figured we might be able to figure something out about this problem. Thanks.

Edit: I've send an email to Motion Twin about the problem and am waiting for a reply. I also really miss this exchange, its the only one that is effective for my Squiby adoptables since I adopt so many from Squiby that I can't keep up with other click exchange sites. They are just to slow at leveling. I really pray we can fix this problem so I can keep using this site.
2010-04-19 08:49
utopia.lvIt is very possible MyMiniCity is blocked by your satellite ISP. Probably somebody before found out a way how to automate IP change with satellite link and made a lots of connections in a short time slowing down Internet for all satellite Internet users. Then it is possible that MyMiniCity server was blocked by ISP.
2010-04-19 19:53
JackulwulfWell I definitely wouldn't be surprised if my ISP is blocking it. I can't use limewire anymore because they blocked it. But I tried accessing MMC on various free proxy servers, wouldn't that bypass that? In any case if my ISP is blocking MMC, where does that leave me? Messaging my ISP probably won't help because I doubt they care enough about one person having problems x.x;;
2010-04-26 21:45
JackulwulfWell I never got a reply from Motion Twin, so I guess they just don't care. *shrugs* Its a shame and I'm really disappointed as this means there isn't really anything that we can do to fix this problem. Guess I'll have to give up, it sucks that I paid money for donator perks only and end up not being able to use the site.
2010-04-27 03:02
zgeekJack, start with phone call to your ISP. They have all your stats. French sites are notorious for not answering English written mail. Friend got no response until they wrote in French.
2010-05-02 03:49
JackulwulfIt is useless to contact my ISP about the problem because they are notorious for being a crap ISP, they will just claim that it's not them or if it is a problem because MMC is slowing down internet for others then they will just refer to their Fair Policy Act which basically says they'll cut your download speed and bandwith usage if you do too much with your internet. They also basically took away most of my ability to download because I recently found out their block p2p sharing so I cannot use Limewire or any torrent sites. Sadly there is nothing I can do about switching my ISP cause they are the only option in my rural area for decent internet. So I give up, this really sucks but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. I did send another email to motion twin, this time in french so hopefully I'll get a reply from them but I won't hold my breath that they'll have an answer.
2010-06-20 02:14
bluebell_roseI have mmcs blocked too. I can't run supermode, but I can run pop up mode. The problem stems from me being behind a transparent proxy, isa server in my home network, so could it have anything to do with that?
2010-06-20 17:46
utopia.lvIt could be problem if it affects cookies. In order to visit myminicity cities, specific browser cookie must be present.
2010-07-12 20:35
VadimI guess it's bad news for us all. If I undersrtand correctly, the host of myminicity blacklists the IP's that are using utopia.lv's extension.

Here's why. At work I have 2 IP's, one going through proxy server, another my own. First utopia.lv with extension was working through proxy. Then it stopped working, in utopia everything on mininicity.com was skipped, and when I actually opened myminicity.com in browser, it returned empty page.

I thought it was something with proxy. But now the same thing happens when I go to myminicity.com directly, without proxy. It was working only 2 days ago, and starting today, myminicity.com returns empty page. But if I go there via different IP (using Vidalia), then the content shows up.

I don't think it can be anything but them having noticed the extension and blacklisted the IP it's from. If I'm right, those who experience this must be using static IP.
2010-07-13 06:48
utopia.lvI've been using the same IP address for daily visits from almost the beginning of the exchange and it is still working fine. There are many other users with static IP address that run exchange for many months without any problems. I don't think that Myminicity will block individual IP addresses. I think Myminicity is being blocked by some Internet providers, proxy server holders and corporate network administrators.
2010-07-16 04:52
OrchidI have been using the same 2 static IP's since almost the beginning of Utopia and have never been blocked. I do know that some Internet Providers are blocking certain sites, especially if they think their is spam involved. They usually do not investigate the sites they block, they just block them because of the amount of bytes involved. That has happened to my sons several times and we have had to call the IP provider and when we explained what type of site it was and that it was not spam, they unblocked the sites.
2010-07-29 22:09
vadToday I tried again to connect to myminicity directly, bypassing proxy server, and now it did return the contents. But via proxy server, still empty document. Since both ways eventually go through the same route (via T1), this probably proves that it's not ISP blocking.
2010-09-12 01:49
For those who are still having problems with this, try downloading Tor and using it. I got Myminicity to work using this program and I can now use Utopia again. Good luck to others.
2010-09-13 02:36
JackulwulfAnother great solution is Hotspot Shield, a free downloadable program that allows one to bypass the block one's ISP puts on some sites. Using this program I am able to access Myminicity sites.
2010-09-16 00:39
MishaBabyI just experienced this issue for the first time. Tried running it again, still no go. After reading through 3/4 of this topic and deciding that uninstalling an reinstalling everything was waaayyyy too much trouble to go through and that apparently does not even fix the issue anyway, I decided to try it one more time. It worked. For those having this issue who read this, I would recommend just waiting a few minutes and trying again before you to such extreme measures as reinstalling programs and even your OS. Doesn't seem like that is at all the issue. Good luck.
2010-09-25 04:30
Jackulwulf@MishaBaby: Likely what the problem you had was that myminicity was down for a few minutes then came back, most of the people that have posted here have had this problem happen for days to weeks on end and have a bigger problem then just the site being down for a few minutes. Like me, I think it is likely my ISP who is blocking the site because I manage to get it to work after using a downloaded program to hide my online identity and IP address which bypassed the block my ISP had on the site.
2010-09-28 13:08
oracleI did the ping test as I was having similar problems and it says 'request timed out'
2011-07-19 10:21
tetrafeldHello everybody,

since two days, I've got the same problem. When I run Utopia exchange with Supermode, all the minicity links are skipped. And when I try to open a minicity manually, I am shown an empty screen.

I tried nearly everything described in this thread (except a complete reinstalling of my computer), but unfortunately without any success.

I also thought, I might have been banned by Motion Twin or by my provider because of playing the minicity game too excessive. But apparently, this does not prove true. For, when I open a minicity link under Internet Explorer instead of Firefox, the city's image pops up as usual. In this case I just can't send a message, because the Flash Player installation fails with IE, which is required to generate a security code. This is an also well known, but insolvable problem, but quite another thing.

It is realy unfortunate, that Motion Twin obviously does not respond to questions about miminicty. I wonder if somebody early or later will find the reason of this skipping problem or if my minicity game will be over forever.
2011-09-11 19:17
jackulwulfI'm still getting this problem too and I've tried everything, which leads me to believe my ISP has blicked MMC, so now if I want to use the exchange, I use the Hot Spot Shield VPN and it works for me. You just have to make sure that while your using Utopia, you have to keep the VPN running otherwise once it's shut down, you won't see the links you have loaded into Utopia.
Strange thing though, I've found that while clicking in the Yarolds link exchange, without the VPN running, some MMC pages do load for me, but most don't. It's very strange.
