My automated refresh isn't working
2011-04-03 10:41
OracleHi Guys

For the past few months my automated refresh isn't working and freezes halfway through a refresh.

Obviously I have ticked the box for automated refresh.

The address I use is http://www.utopia.lv/exchange/?do=supermode

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers

zgeekHi Oracle.
I'm not sure about your question.

To the best of my knowledge, the address http://www.utopia.lv/exchange/?do=supermode will do one pass of Supermode x2 speed.
Do you have a profile saved here?
2011-04-04 06:08
OracleHey Z,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes my profile is saved.

The only links on my profile are mine and Zeedney's who I help from time to time.

The address you suggested is the same as mine so I am not sure what else to do.

All I see is the automatic refresh starts and pauses midway through the visits. If I manually refresh it, it completes the visit cycle.

Thanks

zgeekMy assumptions:
<>you have dynamic IP
<> you wish to do multi automated visits
<>you don’t clear tracking cookies from Utopia

Hi Oracle.
This is what Uto recommends:
utopia.lv/exchange/profile.php?w=special&name=profilename&pass=yourpassword&profile=load&loc=supermode
Use your profilename and pass as per this site.

OracleHi Z

Thanks for your reply

My IP is static; in fact, I have had the same IP for a long time.

I also clear my cookies/cache every day or twice a day and run programs like cleaner and Advance System care cleaners as well.

I did try your suggestion. Should I have logged out first? When I used your suggested address and clicked start, the profile was already loaded and it went to the same address mentioned in our previous posts.

Cheers :)

OracleThe problem is still persisting regarding the automated refresh. Seems to freeze when there is 8 visits left.
2011-04-04 20:20
OrchidUsually if it freezes with just 8 unvisited links, those links are being problematic and usually resolve themselves or it skips them. It seems as though it is not skipping them they way it should. Do you know which links in particular it is getting stuck on?
2011-04-04 21:53
OracleHi Orchid

Thanks for your reply.

I should clarify- it doesn't always stop just at '8 links left'. It just seems to stop midway or some interval through an automated refresh where there are visits, and stops at any link. There doesn't seem to be any visible pattern or reason that 'stands out'.

The only way I can correct it is to manually refresh it.

Cheers

O

zgeekSorry Oracle, I was looking at it from a dynamic IP view.

Orchid is in the best position to advice, as she is a Mod. :-)

Sometimes for whatever reason, there is a slowness in the system.
2011-04-06 05:22
OrchidI've notified the administrator and they will look into it as soon as possible. They have access to coding that I do not, not that I would know what I was looking at in regards to coding. I leave that up to my kids. :) Soon my grandsons will be better at coding them me....

OracleZ,

Thanks anyway for your time & effort.

Orchid,

Thanks for your time & effort and I look forward to what admin may have to say.

Yes, kids now are mastering technology faster than we can. Sometimes it can make us 'appear' old. Thank goodness my alleged wisdom and good counsel still have value- to some anyway!

oracleDoes anyone have any advice as how to remedy this problem as the problem hasn't resolved itself.

DanHello,

Im sorry to hear you are still having problems with the exchange.

I have wrote a message to Utpoia asking for his opinion to why this is causing you problems and you should have an answer shortly.

utopia.lvSorry for not getting back to you faster!
Please give me the answers to the following questions:

* What web browser do you use? Have you tried using latest Firefox version?
* When the visits freeze, does the countdown till server midnight also freeze?
* Does the countdown till refresh ("This page will autorefresh in XX minutes") freeze?
* Did you try disabling antivirus/firewall software shortly?
* Did you try creating a new Firefox profile for running exchange (if using Firefox)?
2011-05-29 02:17
oracleHi Uto

I will try and answer your questions:

* What web browser do you use? Have you tried using latest Firefox version?
I use Firefox version 3.6.17. I have not tried the latest version because it says it is incompatible with supermode add ons, MMC toolbar and other add-on I have with firefox.

* When the visits freeze, does the countdown till server midnight also freeze?
I am unsure at this time. I will wait until it occurs and observe what occure and post my observations here.

* Does the countdown till refresh ("This page will autorefresh in XX minutes") freeze?

No the time increases; for example, it may say "This page will autorefresh in -214 minutes"

* Did you try disabling antivirus/firewall software shortly?

No I haven't

* Did you try creating a new Firefox profile for running exchange (if using Firefox)?

I do have another Utopia profile on Firefox. I haven't used it in a while.

Thanks :)

PS: Thanks Z for your message on MMC alerting me to this post.
2011-05-29 10:04
oracleOk,

* When the visits freeze, does the countdown till server midnight also freeze?

The coutdown doesn't freeze. Continues to count down.

Status=ok

Completed=0%

Extention not found Get it here. (Although I have the extention and it has been selected).

Says "This will auto refresh in 280 minutes"
2011-05-31 13:17
utopia.lvThat must be some other application or extension interfering with JavaScript code of the exchange. Hopefully it writes error message in the error console. Please open Firefox error console ( press Ctrl+Shift+J ), click on Errors and tell me what do you see there.

If there is no meaningful error message and Supermode also does not work correctly under separate Firefox profile, this will need further investigation. Tell me when you get there and I'll give you further instructions.

Anyway I recommend you install Firefox 4. Supermode extension is compatible and will work on it. You can also download portable version of Firefox 4 and run it along with your current browser.

oracleThanks for the reply.

I opened the error console and there are a number of errors and I don't know how far back you want me to go.

utopia.lvI see only one major error there and it comes from toolbar called "multibmtoolbar". Can you uninstall it for testing purposes and try running Supermode again?

If this does not help, please run Supermode with antivirus and firewall disabled for testing purposes.
2011-06-01 00:43
oracleOk, I will do so and let you know the results. This will be interesting as I have two rows of favourites lol.
2011-06-05 07:31
oracleI uninstalled 'multibmtoolbar' but it had no effect.

By accident I upgraded, to Firefox 4.1 (pressed the wrong button) and reinstalled the supermode add on and the previous version of mmc toolbar.

Both supermode and mmc work great and the automated refresh is working fine without any problems.

Thanks again for your assistance.

DanHe he Im glad I sorted out it self.

Any problems, you just let us know again.
