IP Change Automation

cookie-based "IP Change Automation"?
2009-03-15 04:37
des43tI have two computers that I use for the Utopia exchange. One is on fixed IP, the other on multi IP. However, for various reasons, sometimes I need to switch which computer I'm using for which purpose. This is causing me some difficulty, because I go into "options" and check or uncheck "IP Change Automation", but then it doesn't stick. It "forgets" and I'm not sure why. I'm assuming that right now it's profile-based, not cookie-based? Being that I use the same profile on both computers simultaneously, I'm guessing that's why my computers get confused.

I believe it would work better for me if I could set a cookie on each computer to check whether I wanted to use IP Change Automation. Then when I wanted to switch which computer is on multi-IP, I could go in and set a new cookie. Then my profile settings wouldn't mess it up. Is there any way to do this, Uto?

Thanks,
Des

des43tHas there been any consideration given to this? I have been having more and more problems with this. I leave with my computer set to run on static IP, and I come home to find it trying to change IP addresses, which means it shuts down firefox and just sits there doing nothing, until I come home and reset it. Having the automation being profile-based is not working well for me, since I have one computer on static IP and another on dynamic IP.

MisaMiliJust uncheck "IP Change Automation" And click save settings. That's what i'm doing.

It will work as long as u won't "Load profile" on your static-ip computer.

des43tThat's what I do. It doesn't work. It changes. I never "load profile".

utopia.lvIf your computer loses login information stored in the cookie, web-site will look if you are logged in from particular IP address, and if you are, it will load your profile settings again. It will also load automation:on setting.

The only solution I see is you need to find out why cookie is lost.

Sorry it took that long for me to reply.

des43tHmm... I'm pretty certain it's not losing the cookie.

If my computer that's running the automation closes the browser and reopens, could that cause the computer on static-IP to get confused and start running automation, too? I think that might be what's happening.
