Theme(Colours)
2008-11-29 14:13
Chaos24Well I'm proudly Canadian by spelling colour with a "u"

Anyways,
This site is now a "black" colour scheme
I would be cool to make this site have change-able colour schemes under the option menu

A list of colours could be:
Blue
Orange
Red
Green
Purple
Pink
Yellow
(you get the idea)

DavidNot to argue with anyone, but I disagree because I have seen exchanges that have different colored themes and they don't look that great. This color scheme is tasteful, and it offers more color when you run the exchange. If it were in another color, I am not so certain as to how it would look when you were actually running the exchange, since the links are already green, red, yellow. Too many colors don't always look good and destroy a theme.

This theme, at least on our two notebooks is a cool shade. In other posts, I described it as downright "stylish". I think different theme colors would just be another burden for Utopia and am generally happy with him utilizing the time he spends coming up with more original and interesting enhancements in terms of service--personal stats for example.

utopia.lvThat is a good idea about changeable colors (or colours) :).

Problem: to come up with the current colors took me a lot of time and currently not all colors are specified in the CSS style file.
I might add skins or looks it in the future, but currently not planned.

It is possible to redesign look of the web site by anyone if you have CSS knowledge using the same principle utoland descibed here.

Chaos24David: You have a point that other site look like garbage, but I was thinking not so "MS paint colors" and more like bright . . . happy . . . colours
eg. not this blue(at the top) http://www.kalkran.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/paint231.JPG
but these blues; http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FCL/I6UE/F35J1NVT/FCLI6UEF35J1NVT.MEDIUM.jpg (the underglow)

Utopia: Ok thanks, I started to think total customization of all the colours but.....you can guess why I didn't say it

DavidWell if Utopia thinks it's a good idea it's his call. If he ever does themes or skins, we here will probably stay with the default.

There is another exchange that offers different "color schemes" and they are just variations of mismatch. Nice exchange, ugly colors.

People have different tastes, so I guess there is no harm in trying to offer alternatives for people, but I question the necessity of skins for a link
exchange.

Skins are usually for things like Media players and software that you wish to have style/color match your likes (and hopefully your desktop!).

If Mr. U has the time and thinks it's a good idea, have at it. I was just stating that the new screen looks good to me.

utopia.lvAs I said currently other looks are not planned. But I'll keep it in mind anyway as a future improvement.
If I do it, I will make colors match properly and look good.

What I still need to do is, I need to change Chatbox colors to better match with the rest of the web site.

DavidMatching the colors of the chat room with the exchange page is a great idea!

DavidSprout: I finally got a chance to look at your links. I am a big fan of color-coordination, and choosing my own skins. If one is on a computer all day, it certainly makes it easier on the eyes.

I don't recall why I felt so adamently against the suggestion, I suppose perhaps that it was my hope that there would be more services and benefits for donors, as opposed to people who use the exchange but offer no remuneration out of gratitude. That's no aimed at anyone specifically, it's just a general way I look at things.

I can see where different color screens may appeal to people. But I still think that this page is stylish in its' simplicity. I would rather discover a new option for all of us in terms of functionality as opposed to various multi-colored offerings! That's the last I will say about it! : ^ )
